AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Our aim at Chewton Common Playgroup is to create a happy caring and stimulating environment where the children can play, learn and develop at their own speed.

An environment where they have the opportunity to work towards and sometimes achieve the
EARLY LEARNING GOALS.

An environment where the children are able to succeed and be praised and an environment where the children know and have a clear understanding of behavioural expectations.

ACTIVITIES

As well as our usual daily routine, we also have other activities to help enhance the children's experience and learning.

These include a weekly visit by a qualified music teacher for the children to experience different instruments, different rythms, tempos and beats as well as learning new songs.

We also have a YOGA instructor who will take a class twice a term.

On top of these activities we also arrange visits from the Fire Brigade and Police and trips to places such as The Bournemouth Oceanarium and discovery trips to the beach.

STAFFING

We have an excellent staff ratio of 1:5. Our team is small and highly qualified, which means there is continuity of care for the children and a chance to build good relationships with the whole family.

All our staff have families of there own and have achieved NVQ3 standard or are working towards this qualification.

Jo, Sara, Sue, Helen (playgroup supervisor) and & Jane.

Our last OFSTED report in 2003 said:

They also noted an area of Outstanding Practice in relation to the children's play.
